I have been super busy with my job lately, but I just had to tell you about the new blushes I’ve been testing. A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going to an event by Make Up For Ever to launch their new HD Cream Blushes. It was a fantastic event where their makeup artists talked about the product and the shades and taught us how to apply the blushes based on our face shape. I’ve been practicing my figure-eight application ever since! They also had artists on hand to draw our caricatures which was really fun!
The new Make Up For Ever HD blushes ($36) are a cream to powder product and they come in 16 shades. Designed to blend effortlessly onto your skin with the perfect blend of dry oils, silicones, waxes, these blushes are super easy to use, especially if you’re a cream product newbie like me. I admit, I was a little scared to try them because I thought I would make a mess of my blush! With the help of the super friendly makeup artist, she showed me how to apply the blush in the best way to suit my face shape. I have an pval face, so I can apply as a figure-eight for the classic technique, or I can use the pop of colour technique. Take a look at the chart for the best application for your face shape.
As I mentioned, I was a little hesitant about the cream products. The first thing the artist told me was to think of them as a powder. That really is the key to these blushes. Yes, they are creams, but they blend a set like a powder, making them foolproof, even for newbies like me.
The 16 shades that the HD blushes comes in means that every skin tone will find a shade that’s perfect. They also have a universal shade, 410 (Coral), that is guaranteed to flatter everyone. 410 is actually my favourite shade of the two I received. It’s a gorgeous coral shade that I would have never thought would work on my skin tone. The makeup artist selected shade 225 (Peachy Pink) for me as well. It’s a very pretty cool pink tone. Both shades apply easily and can be built up depending on how much colour you want. The blushes can also be applied under or over powder, so if you want a really natural look, try applying them before your powder. Lasting power, like pretty much every MUFE product I’ve tried, is superb. These easily last all day and look as good at the end of the day as they do right after application. Super-pigmented and super long lasting, you really can’t go wrong.
We also had the chance to use another one of Make Up For Ever’s fantastic brushes while in our teaching session with the artist. I brought home the 150 Precision Blush brush ($46). This blush brush features a slanted head with straight and waxy synthetic fibers for a flawless, foolproof application. This brush line is impressive!
The new HD Cream Blushes are available online and in Sephora stores nationwide. Be sure to go check out the shades and find one that suits your skin tone!
