I had to share a swatch or two of NYX Pink Sugar. I bought it a few weeks ago when there was a massive NYX clearance at Rexall. I guess it was kind of fate that Pink Sugar was added to my collection because I never go into Rexall since there isn’t one in my area.
Anyway, I saw this pearly pale pink and thought it looked really similar to OPI Pussy Galore. Since I love that shade so much, I thought it would be nice to have a non-textured version. Pink Sugar is part of the NYX Salon Finish line. All of the polishes in the line were on clearance at Rexall so I’m not sure if this line is being discontinued, reformulated or maybe repackaged (I have heard things about people not being happy that the bottles are identical to Deborah Lippmann). It was only $1.99, so I didn’t need much convincing.
When I first bought Pink Sugar, the weather was really humid and every time I applied it, I got so many tiny bubbles I was starting to wonder if it was the formula or the weather. I am pretty sure that it was the weather because I have worn it since then without bubbles, but I can’t say for sure. On removal, the fine silver shimmer tends to migrate all over and leave a fine sheen on my nails and skin.
Pink Sugar is not very opaque, you need 3-4 coats to get good colour pay off. I also don’t really like how noticeable the brush lines can be, but that is really common with satin finish polishes. Drying time seems longer than usual, so when you need multiple coats, a manicure with this colour can take awhile.
For comparison, I painted my index and ring finger nails with Pussy Galore. Pink Sugar is darker, but they are pretty similar. I actually wore that mani for awhile and liked the looks of it. I am really taking a shine to light pinks lately, it seems like my collection likes to grow in certain colours.
Have you tried any NYX polishes? What’s your favourite light pink colour?
